Favorite games of These Days

What has always bothered me about the year-end compilations of any sort of “best of” lists, is that everybody seems to focus of the recent releases, as opposed to doing their due diligence buy runescape money in going over the entire gamut of that year’s titles. Yes, both Borderlands and Modern Warfare 2 were put on shelves in October and November respectively, but does that automatically mean they were this year’s best games? In any event, there is no way for me to be knowledgeable in every single game released this year, so instead I am going to take a look at the games I beat in 2009 so far.

That list includes a total of sixteen games, but many of them like Fallout 3 and Spore were released prior to 2009, so I will not include them. The games that I did count are Dawn of War II, Zeno Clash, Overlord 2, Plants vs. Zombies, Rosemary, Pizza Morgana – Episode 1, Heroes Over Europe, Modern Warfare 2, Torchlight and Devil’s Tuning Fork. In addition to these games, there were also some that I’ve played but didn’t (or couldn’t) complete. One such game is Aion, which is an MMO and thus can never be finished. A lot of these games were excellent, some were disappointing, and some had both good and bad aspects to them. From this group, I’ve selected my top four finalists.

Dawn of War II was released early in the year so by now it is all but forgotten in favor of the more recent offerings. This is a major injustice, however, as this game is an absolute delight to play. There may have been a few insignificant issues, but overall few things could be more awesome than Space Marines with chainsaw runescape accounts swords. The tongue-in-cheek space opera setting of Warhammer 40K and a real-time tactics formula developed by Relic were always meant for each other. This game is one strong contender.

Plants vs. Zombies is the little game that could. I am usually not a fan of casual gaming, but every now and again something comes along that makes it worth it to step outside of one’s routine. It’s a variant of a tower defense game, but unlike most of its flash-based siblings it is a finished and very well polished product. A lot of love went into making it and it shows. From graphics and music, to its encyclopedia and great sense of humor, everything is done in such a way that one cannot help but thoroughly enjoy the experience.

Modern Warfare 2 came late in the year, became a console best seller and enraged many PC gamers runescape items with its lack of dedicated servers and other expected inclusions. Controversy aside, it is a magnificent shooter with a single-player campaign that’s tiny but rich and exciting. The multiplayer aspect is so good that I still play it almost every day. The only other FPS that ever did this for me was the original Unreal Tournament back in the day. MW2 is a solid contender and will undoubtedly give other games a run for their money.

Torchlight is a lovable Diablo clone with lots of monsters, lots of loot and various styled areas. If it was a movie, it’d be the kind where you walk in with low expectations and walk out well entertained. There is nothng fancy about it, no profound storyline twists, no great feats of engineering as far as the engine goes, but it’s solid, pretty, cartoonish and fun. The campaign isn’t very long and there is no multiplayer component, but there is an infinite dungeon that opens up once you beat the final boss.

There were other good games this year, including a wonderfully artistic Zeno Clash. It didn’t make the cut because the mechanics of the game weren’t all that great, but many of its ideas and concepts were. The same is true of the recent indie title Devil’s Tuning Fork. Of course there were many other games released this year, which I haven’t had a chance to look at, but from what I’ve seen the above four are my contenders for the Game of the Year title. They are all excellent games rs gold in their own right, and they are all clearly on top of their respective genres. If we had category awards they would all win, alas there can be only one.

Upon careful consideration, I have decided that the best game of 2009 is Dawn of War II! Yes, zombies, commies and magical monsters all have their place in our hearts and minds, but if you don’t stop the Tyranid menace, who will? Who will take on the Orks and the Eldar if you go off playing computer games? Who will serve as the protector of humanity if not you? The Blood Ravens chapter of the Space Marines needs your leadership! To arms, brothers! Let’s show this alien scum what humans are made of! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Enslaved review: A barrel of Monkey

It's embarrassing, but true: Every single reviewer tries to think of what they're going to say while they're playing a game. For me, it's like a mental first draft, constantly evolving as I play. "EFF THIS CRAP IT'S TOO HARD" gets struck through when I figure out what I'm doing wrong, and hilarious jokes runescape accounts I come up with about the main character's haircut become more refined as I go along.

As I sat down to write my review for Enslaved though, I realized that my brain had been so captivated, so entranced by the adventures of the brutish loner Monkey, that my mental slate was entirely blank. And that's saying something, because he's got one really stupid haircut.

Have you read Enslaved's source material, the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West? No, you probably haven't. I know I haven't. If you had though, you'd be familiar with the story of Tripitaka, a monk on a mission to ... well, the classical Trip is trying to retrieve Buddhist scriptures for China, but ours just wants to get home. She's just freed herself from a slaver's ship runescape items alongside our protagonist, Monkey, who is forced to help her on the journey -- thanks to a slaver's headband she uses to control his every action.

She chose her guardian wisely. The acrobatic Monkey is well-suited to the post-apocalyptic U.S. that the duo traverses. A combination of overgrown jungle and abandoned machinery have left countless hand-holds for our hero, and helping him effortlessly scale them is a real treat, especially for fans of similar locomotion in Prince of Persia and Uncharted.

The thuggish wanderer can handle himself in a fight too, with a staff that makes him a threat at both close and long range, thanks to a plasma blaster at the tip. He is, however, just one guy, and frequently has to call out to the otherwise defenseless Trip for a decoy that draws fire, so he can advance on the enemy. Knowing when to employ runescape accounts which strategy adds a compelling layer of depth to the encounters with bands of vicious mechs that now roam the earth.

So, yes, there are some extremely well-conceived central mechanics and some thrilling interludes that I wouldn't dare spoil. But the real reason that Enslaved is so easy to recommend is the excellent writing by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and performances by Andy Serkis and Lindsey Shaw.

The dialog (and there's not a ton of it, mind you) between the two leads and late arrival Pigsy is so fluid, funny and endearing that pretty much every other game on the market should be embarrassed. It is, simply, the best example of this oft-neglected facet of game design since Uncharted 2.

By the end of Trip and Monkey's odyssey, I actually wanted to keep spending time with them and was sad that I would miss out on whatever they would do next. I realized that I had spent the whole game so wrapped up in these people that I had neglected to consider rs power leveling what I would write about them. That's right: For 12 hours or so, Enslaved had turned me from professional game critic to fan fiction author/cosplayer, and I couldn't have been happier about it

Sadly, Enslaved is kept from its full potential by distracting (though not deal-breaking) technical shortcomings. The frame rate will often slow to a chug, and there's a persistent, annoying graphical stuttering (for lack of a better term) that often kills the fluidity buy runescape money of the action.

While I'm nitpicking: The controls -- while perfectly graceful when you're performing gravity-defying leaps -- can feel kind of clunky when you're just trying to get from A to B. Far too often, I found myself with enemy weaponry bearing down as I frantically tried to get Monkey to climb up a ledge he refused to approach.

It's a review, so I have to let you know about stuff like this, but please don't let it keep you from picking up Enslaved. It is (barring those missteps) a joy from start to finish. This is a beacon, a fine reminder that if you have talented people and a little respect for your audience, great storytelling in games can be not only possible but profound.

The Important White Rap Group: The Beastie Boys

As the first white rap group of any importance, the Beastie Boys received the scorn of critics and strident hip-hop musicians, both of whom accused them of cultural pirating, especially since they began as a hardcore punk group in 1981. But the Beasties weren't pirating -- instead, they treated rap as part of a post-punk musical underground, where the Do It Yourself aesthetics of hip-hop and punk weren't that far apart. Of course, the exaggerated b-boy and frat-boy parodies of their unexpected hit debut album, Licensed to Ill, didn't help their cause. For much of the mid-'80s, the Beastie Boys were considered macho clowns, and while they dismissed that theory with the ambitious, Dust Brothers-produced second album, Paul's Boutique, it was ignored by both the public and the press at the time.

In retrospect, Paul's Boutique was one of the first albums to predict the genre-bending, self-referential pop kaleidoscope of '90s pop. The Beasties refined their eclectic approach with 1992's Check Your Head, where they played their own instruments. Check Your Head brought the Beasties buy runescape gold back to the top of the charts, and within a few years, they were considered one of the most influential and ambitious groups of the '90s, cultivating a musical community not only through their music, but with their record label, Grand Royal, and their magazine of the same name.

It was remarkable turn of events for a group that demonstrated no significant musical talent on their first records. All three members of the Beastie Boys -- Mike D (born Mike Diamond, November 20, 1966), MCA (born Adam Yauch, August 5, 1965), and Ad-Rock (born Adam Horovitz, October 31, 1967) -- came from wealthy middle-class Jewish families in New York and had become involved in the city's punk underground when they were teenagers in the early '80s. Diamond and Yauch formed the Beastie Boys with drummer Kate Schellenbach and guitarist John Berry in 1981, and the group began playing underground clubs around New York. The following year, the Beasties released the 7" EP Pollywog Stew on the indie label runescape accounts Rat Cage to little attention. That same year, the band met Horovitz, who had formed the hardcore group the Young and the Useless. By early 1983, Schellenbach and Berry had left the group -- they would later join Luscious Jackson and Thwig, respectively -- and Horovitz had joined the Beasties.

The revamped group released the rap record "Cookie Puss" as a 12" single later in 1983. Based on a prank phone call the group made to Carvel Ice Cream, the single became an underground hit in New York. By early 1984, however, they had abandoned punk and turned their attention to rap. In 1984, the Beasties joined forces with producer Rick Rubin, a heavy metal and hip-hop fan who had recently founded Def Jam Records runescape items with fellow New York University student Russell Simmons. Def Jam officially signed the Beastie Boys in 1985, and that year they had a hit single from the soundtrack to Krush Groove with "She's on It," a rap track that sampled AC/DC's "Back in Black" and suggested the approach of the group's forthcoming debut album. The Beasties received their first significant national exposure later in 1985, when they opened for Madonna on her Virgin Tour.

The trio taunted the audience with profanity and were generally poorly received. One other major tour, as the openers for Run-D.M.C.'s ill-fated Raisin' Hell trek, followed before Licensed to Ill was released late in 1986. An amalgam of street beats, metal riffs, b-boy jokes, and satire, Licensed to Ill was interpreted as a mindless, obnoxious party record by many critics and conservative action groups. That didn't stop the album from becoming the fastest-selling debut in Columbia Records' history, however, as it sold over 750,000 copies in its first six weeks. Much of the album's success was due to "Fight for Your Right (To Party)," which became a massive crossover single. In fact, Licensed to Ill became the biggest-selling rap album of the '80s, which generated much criticism from certain hip-hop fans who believed that the Beasties were merely cultural pirates.

On the other side of the coin, the group was being attacked from the right, who claimed their lyrics were violent and sexist and that their concerts -- which featured female audience members dancing in go-go cages and a giant inflatable penis, similar to what the Stones used in their mid-'70s concerts -- caused even more outrage. Throughout their 1987 tour, they were plagued with arrests and lawsuits, and were accused of inciting crime. While much of the Beasties' exaggeratedly obnoxious runescape money behavior started out as a joke, it became a self-parody by the end of 1987, so it wasn't a surprise that the group decided to revamp their sound and image during the next two years. During 1988, they became involved in a bitter lawsuit with Def Jam and Rick Rubin, who claimed he was responsible for the group's success and threatened to release outtakes as their second album.

The group finally broke away by the end of the year and relocated to California, where they signed with Capitol Records. While in California, they met the production team the Dust Brothers, and they convinced the duo to use their prospective debut album as the basis for the Beasties' second album, Paul's Boutique. Densely layered with interweaving samples and pop culture references, the retro-funk-psychedelia of Paul's Boutique was entirely different than Licensed to Ill, and many observers weren't quite sure what to make of it. Several publications gave it rave reviews, but when it failed to produce a single bigger than the number rs gold 36 "Hey Ladies," it was quickly forgotten about. Despite its poor commercial performance, Paul's Boutique gained a cult following, and its cut-and-paste sample techniques would later be hailed as visionary, especially after the Dust Brothers altered the approach for Beck's acclaimed 1996 album, Odelay. Still, the record was declared a disaster in the early '90s, but that didn't prevent the Beasties from building their own studio and founding their own record label, Grand Royal, for their next record, Check Your Head.

Alternating between old-school hip-hop, raw amateurish funk, and hardcore punk, Check Your Head was less accomplished than Paul's Boutique but equally diverse. Furthermore, the burgeoning cult around the Beasties made the album a surprise Top Ten hit upon its spring 1992 release. "Jimmy James," "Pass the Mic," and "So Whatcha Want" were bigger hits on college and alternative rock radio than they were on rap radio, and the group suddenly became hip again. Early in 1994, they collected their early punk recordings on the compilation Some Old Bullshit, which was followed in June by their fourth album, Ill Communication. Essentially an extension of Check Your Head, the record debuted at number one upon its release, and the singles "Sabotage" and "Sure Shot" helped send it to double-platinum status. During the summer of 1994, they co-headlined the fourth Lollapalooza festival with the Smashing Pumpkins. That same year, Grand Royal became a full-fledged record label as it released Luscious Jackson's acclaimed debut album, Natural Ingredients.

The Beasties' Grand Royal magazine was also launched that year. Over the next few years, the Beasties remained quiet as they concentrated on political causes and the machinations of their record label. In 1996, they released the hardcore EP Aglio e Olio and the instrumental soul-jazz and funk collection The In Sound from Way Out! Also that year, Adam Yauch organized a two-day festival to raise awareness about Tibet's plight against the Chinese government, and the festival went on to become an annual event. The Beastie Boys' long-awaited fifth LP, Hello Nasty, finally appeared during the summer of 1998 and became their third chart-topping album.

A longer wait preceded release of their next record, To the 5 Boroughs, which appeared in mid-2004. In 2005, Capitol issued Solid Gold Hits, a 15-track survey of the Beasties' lengthy career. One year later, the band released a concert film titled Awesome: I Fuckin' Shot That!, which had been pieced together from footage shot by 50 DV and Hi-8 cameras that had been distributed to fans. The DVD version appeared in July of that year. An instrumental album, The Mix-Up, continued the band's prolific activity in 2007 and garnered a Grammy Award the following year. The Beastie Boys returned to rap with their next album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1, parts of which was previewed during the band's performance at Bonnaroo 2009.

Bruce Springsteen: He's Born to Run

When Bruce Springsteen finally broke through to national recognition in the fall of 1975 after a decade of trying, critics hailed him as the savior of rock & roll, the single artist who brought together all the exuberance of '50s rock and the thoughtfulness of '60s rock, molded into a '70s style. He rocked as hard as Jerry Lee Lewis, his lyrics were as stirring as Bob Dylan's, and his concerts were near-religious celebrations of all that was best in music. One critic became so enamored that he quit reviewing to become Springsteen's manager. But the hosannas, when piped through the publicity machine buy runescape gold of a major record company, were perceived as hype by a significant part of the public as well as the mainstream media. Springsteen landed on the covers of Time and Newsweek, but both magazines were covering the phenomenon, not the music.

Springsteen's album, Born to Run, became a hit, and he jumped to arena status as a live act, but as many people were turned off by the press campaign as turned on by the records and shows. Two decades later, however, Springsteen remained an established star who could look back on a career that had produced one of the best-selling albums of all time, sold-out stadium shows, Grammy awards and an Oscar, and a group of imitators who constituted their own subgenre of popular music. If he no longer seemed divine, he remained popular enough for his Greatest Hits album to enter the charts at number one, and he had won over many of those skeptics from 1975.

Growing up in southern New Jersey, Springsteen turned to rock & roll as a teenager and played in a series of bands from the mid-'60s on, varying in style from garage rock to power trio blues-rock. By the early '70s, he was trying his hand at being a folky singer/songwriter in Greenwich Village. But when he was signed to Columbia Records in 1972, he brought into the studio many of the New Jersey-based musicians with whom he'd played over the years. The result was Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., which went unnoticed upon its initial rs power leveling release in January 1973 (although Manfred Mann's Earth Band would turn its leadoff track, "Blinded by the Light," into a number one hit four years later).

The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle (September 1973) also failed to sell despite some rave reviews. (Both albums have since gone platinum.) The following year, Springsteen revised his backup group -- dubbed the E Street Band -- settling on a lineup that included saxophone player Clarence Clemons, second guitarist "Miami" Steve Van Zandt, organist Danny Federici, pianist Roy Bittan, bassist Garry Tallent, and drummer Max Weinberg. With this unit he barnstormed the country while working on his third and last chance with Columbia. By the time runescape accounts Born to Run (August 1975) was released, the critics and a significant cult audience were with him, and the title song became a Top 40 hit while the album reached the Top Ten.

What Springsteen needed to do in the wake of the hype, of course, was to play and record more to consolidate his position. He was prevented at least from the latter by a former manager, who kept him in court during the next couple of years. Meanwhile, the musical world changed. Part of the reason critics had welcomed Springsteen so enthusiastically in 1975 was that he seemed a return to basic rock & roll values in a world of soft rock, heavy metal, and art rock. By the time Springsteen returned with his fourth album, Darkness on the Edge of Town (June 1978), however, the punk/new wave movement had outflanked him, pushing him from the vanguard to the mainstream. Similar sounding heartland rockers such as Bob Seger had appeared, so that Springsteen sounded less like an innovator than a member of an established genre.

Nevertheless, he set about winning fans with an album that found the lost children of his early albums stuck in factory jobs, still longing for some escape. The album was a hit, though it did not match the success of Born to Run. Springsteen returned with the double album The River (October 1980), which topped the charts and featured his first Top Ten hit, "Hungry Heart." Nobody was calling him a hype anymore, but Springsteen retreated from his expanding success, next recording the low-key album Nebraska (September 1982), a virtual demo tape on vinyl. (Springsteen did not tour to promote the album, and in the interim E Street runescape money Band guitarist Van Zandt amicably left the group for a solo career, to be replaced by Nils Lofgren.) But then came Born in the U.S.A. (June 1984) and a two-year international tour. The album threw off seven hit singles and sold over ten million copies, putting Springsteen in the pop heavens with Michael Jackson and Prince.

After touring for more than a year, he released a five-LP/three-CD concert album, Live/1975-85 (November 1986), which topped the charts. Characteristically, Springsteen returned with a more introverted effort, Tunnel of Love (October 1987), which presaged his divorce from his first wife. (He married a second time to singer Patti Scialfa, who had joined the E Street Band.) After another marathon tour, Springsteen gave the E Street Band notice in November 1989, breaking up a celebrated unit who had stayed together 15 years. In March 1992, he simultaneously released Human Touch and Lucky Town, and though the albums premiered near the top of the charts, they were less successful with fans than previous efforts. In the fall, Springsteen taped an MTV Unplugged segment (though he plugged in after one song), and the performance was released as an album in Europe in 1993.

Springsteen continued to tour until July 1993. In the fall, he wrote and recorded "Streets of Philadelphia" for the soundtrack to the film Philadelphia, which concerned a lawyer dying of AIDS. The song became a Top Ten hit in 1994, winning the Academy Award for Best Song and cleaning up at the Grammys the following year. At the same time, Springsteen had readied his Greatest Hits album (February 1995), reassembling the E Street Band to record a few new tracks. The album was an immediate best-seller. Springsteen followed it with The Ghost of Tom Joad (November 1995), another low-key, downcast, near-acoustic effort and embarked upon a brief solo tour.

In 1999, shortly after his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Springsteen reunited with the E Street Band (including both Lofgren and Van Zandt on guitars) and embarked on a world tour that lasted until mid-2000, its final dates resulting in the album Live in New York City. Bruce Springsteen then set to work on The Rising, his first full-length studio album to feature the group as a whole since Born in the U.S.A.. Released in July 2002, it was also Springsteen's first album of new studio recordings since The Ghost of Tom Joad. Another successful tour followed, as did the release of Devils & Dust in 2005. One year later, the songwriter released the first covers album of his career, a tribute to the songs of Pete Seeger titled We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions. Live in Dublin, featuring concert material from the tour supporting Springsteen's Seeger project, was released on both CD and DVD in 2007.

Springsteen then returned to his work with the E Street Band and released Magic in the fall of 2007, followed by another round of touring. Several months later, however, longtime E Street organist Danny Federici succumbed to a three-year battle with melanoma. Springsteen finished the tour in 2008 and held several additional shows in support of Senator Barack Obama, whose presidential campaign had kicked into hyperdrive earlier that year. While playing an Obama rally in early November, Springsteen debuted material from his forthcoming album, Working on a Dream, whose tracks had been recorded with the E Street Band during breaks in the group's previous tour. The resulting album, which was the last to feature contributions from Federici (as well as his son, Jason), arrived on January 27, 2009, one week after Barack Obama's historic inauguration.

MotorStorm Apocalypse review: Crash test dummy

As far as awesome spectacles in gaming go, MotorStorm Apocalypse is up there with the best. I don't know if I've ever seen a game, let alone a racer, with this amount of action happening at any given moment. I can't help but marvel at the degree and detail buy runescape money of the destruction it renders on a city-wide scale -- which is a problem, since I'm supposed to be focused on racing.

Everything comes at you so fast, furious, loud and bright that opponents trying to ram you off the "track" (little in this game resembles an actual race course) are the least of your worries. No, the greatest risk buy runescape accounts is running into the scenery ... over and over and over again.

The phrase "rough around the edges" gets bandied around a lot when talking about games, but I can't think of one in recent memory to which it applies more appropriately or literally.

There's a racing festival / battle being held in an earthquake-ravaged costal city (hence the title's delay following the real-life quake devastation in Japan) and it's drawn the attention of newbie racer Mash (that's you!). You'll guide the upstart through a series rs power leveling of races designed to highlight the specific strengths of different vehicles (cars, trucks, bikes, quads) on varying terrain, before it all opens up and lets you choose the best vehicle for each job.

Back to the racing, or, as I started to think of it, "high-speed scenery avoidance." There's something obviously cool about racing through a course that's constantly changing (in this case through natural disaster) and having these cataclysmic events playing out as you vie for first place. Just the idea of using the devastation as an advantage -- a shortcut, maybe -- is a great one.

During the course of each race, new paths are formed (and old ones rendered unusable) by buildings toppling over, massive cracks forming, the track splitting and wrenching its way skyward into makeshift runescape accounts ramps. The destruction isn't always natural, though. Heavily armed groups are fighting for control of the devastated city, and racers will sometimes come under fire from tanks and helicopters.

To succeed in any real way at being a top MotorStormer requires the concentration and nerves of a zen master. The best advice I can offer for anyone attempting to play this game is: STAY CALM. Otherwise, like me, you'll still hit the same little sliver of course geometry nine out of 10 times and go hurtling off in a ball of fire. The twitchy control doesn't help, nor does the fact that even the largest vehicle feels like it's filled with some lighter-than-air gas. Actually, I think the real culprit runescape accountsis a physics model that's clearly way past its prime -- and that was in 2006 with the original (and far less crash-filled) game.

When racing in lighter vehicles, the feeling of them being too light I mentioned translates directly into over-correcting and general over-steering. That's not a problem in the largest vehicles, but while driving them you'll encounter under-responsive handling seemingly meant to reinforce the fact that they're heavier, but it's just not right.

Multiplayer is plagued by the same problems, which isn't surprising when you consider it's a carbon copy of single-player's race types. There aren't any real standout features to elevate it beyond a back-of-the-box bullet point. It is a lot more hectic than single player, which creates more opportunities to ... crash. The game also seems to have problems determining who's in which place from time to time (for example, I'd blow past 3rd place and still be 4th).

MotorStorm Apocalypse really nails the whole apocalypse thing, no question. It's the actual racing that's taken the back seat. There are moments when the planets align and the experience becomes pure arcade racing magic -- but they're only moments. The rest of the time you're just an angsty, glorified crash test dummy.

Researchers: Police Already Using iPhone Tracking Data

A pair of mobile forensic researchers who independently identified a location tracking system on the iPhone 4 several months before it was publicized by O'Reilly Radar this week say that law enforcement agencies are currently using data rs gold from a hidden iOS file called "consolidated.db" in criminal investigations.

Evidence from the location tracking database stored on iPhones "has been used in actual criminal investigations and yes, it's led to convictions," said Alex Levinson, a Rochester Institute of Technology researcher and technical lead for iOS forensics consultant Katana Forensics.

But Levinson and Christopher Vance, a Marshall University digital forensics specialist, also contend that Apple probably included the technology in its iOS operating system runescape items to deliver location-based services like iAds rather than to create dossiers on the whereabouts of iPhone users.

A great deal of buzz has surrounded a Wednesday O'Reilly Radar blog post by researchers Pete Warden and Alasdair Allan that highlighted a hidden file on iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad which includes latitude-longitude coordinates and a timestamp to track where such devices have been geographically and when. (PCMag.com's Sascha Segan recently documented how his iPhone tracked his summer vacation without his knowledge.)

But Warden and Allan apparently weren't the first to discover the file.

Vance told PCMag.com Thursday that he came across the location tracking database shortly after running some forensics software on the iPhone 4 he purchased in the summer of 2010.

"I just happened to get an early release of a forensic product in beta and all of a sudden it pulled out this database," Vance said. He wrote about his discovery in a September 2010 blog post that erroneously stated that GPS data runescape accounts was being stored in the consolidated.db file.

Instead, the database collects location data on iOS devices by tracking connections to cell towers. Vance corrected his earlier post in a February update on his blog.

While he has gone back and forth over Apple's purpose in storing the location tracking data, Vance now says it's likely done to deliver the location-based services that Apple defended in a letter sent to Congress last year.

And the reason Apple uses cell tower connections rather than more precise location tracking data that could be delivered by a built-in GPS?

"If I had to guess, it's probably a matter of OS efficiency," Vance said. "The database is probably there to decrease the amount of time needed to generate GPS information for the location services or iAds built into the apps on iOS. Using assisted GPS is much faster and less of a strain on your battery life."

Vance, who is also a forensics consultant to the West Virginia State Police, said he has checked the consolidated.db file at the request of law enforcement officers but that so far no iPhone's location tracking database he has examined has produced a "smoking gun" that broke open an investigation.

"But it's been helpful," he added. "And that's not to say that we haven't found a 'smoking gun' in our forensics on iPhones buy runescape money or other phones, just not anything directly connected to the [location tracking] database."

The fact that the consolidated.db files have created such an uproar is a bit confusing to Vance and Levinson, who also discovered the database shortly after the iPhone's release in 2010.

Hi5 becomes a top ten online game site

Perhaps it was the sumo wrestling. Alex St. John, president of social network Hi5 and a man who took on a real sumo wrestler buy runescape money as a marketing stunt, has something to crow about. His company is announcing today that market analyst comScore Media Metrix has classified Hi5 as a top ten online gaming site in a worldwide ranking.

St. John has been trying to shake Hi5’s legacy as an international social network since he joined the San Francisco firm in November, 2009. Back then, Hi5 had 60 million unique monthly users, but it didn’t really have a great way to make money from them. Hi5’s users have slipped to 30 million, but St. John has relentlessly steered the company into more lucrative social games.

In worldwide online gaming unique visitors, Hi5 now ranks sixth as an online game site, with 21.7 million unique monthly visitors. It is ahead of some established online game buy runescape accounts portals such as Nickelodeon Casual Games (20.8 million), Yahoo Games (20.7 million), and MSN Games (18.6 million). Hi5 has more than 110 social games and more than 400 more coming soon.

The top-ranked online game companies: Spil Games (49.8 million), GSN Games Networks and CPMStar (35.7 million), EA Online (32.9 million), WildTangent Media (29.6 million), and Xiamen Youjia Network (22.2 million).

Bill Gossman, chief executive of Hi5, says the new ranking is a milestone in the company’s pivot from a social network to a social game destination. Of course, this is kind of like jumping from one big rival to another. Unable to beat Facebook, Hi5 is now going up against the likes of Zynga.

The key to climbing higher in the ranks will be getting more exclusive games. Hi5’s new games include titles that have also been on Facebook, such as Millionaire City, Backyard Monsters, Barn Buddy, Resort World, and Bush Whacker.

Hi5 has attracted game developers by being friendly to them and giving them ways to get noticed via its SocioPath runescape accounts online game platform. Hi5 was founded in 2003 and has raised $34 million to date. It has 70 employees.

NASA's future depends on spaceflight neophytes

During the five decades that followed the first launch of an American into space — Alan Shepard’s flight on May 5, 1961 — NASA’s accomplishments were respected and admired the world over. Those responsible for the agency’s successes followed a simple axiom: Good is the enemy runescape gold of great. NASA either flew with the best and most experienced, or not at all.

This week brought the first hint that NASA’s standards could be dropping. With the space shuttle era nearing its end, the agency awarded more than $269 million in contracts to build commercial spaceships: two capsules, a space plane and a gumdrop spaceship to taxi astronauts to and from the International Space Station or other destinations in low Earth orbit.

NASA says Americans will be riding their own spaceships once again by the middle of the decade. But old hands argue that it'll be more like seven to 10 years.

Here's the lineup announced on Monday:
-Blue Origin, a secretive company founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos with little history, was awarded $22 million. Blue Origin will work rs gold on its gumdrop capsule and an escape system.
-A contract for $80 million to the Sierra Nevada Corp. This little-known company plans to build a reusable Dream Chaser space plane that looks and feels like a mini-space shuttle. The craft is designed to ride a rocket into orbit and land on a runway.
-SpaceX — which successfully launched two rockets from Cape Canaveral over the past year — received $75 million. The company's orbital Dragon capsule went through its first launch-to-splashdown test in December.
-A little more than $92 million went to the Boeing Co., the only true veteran of the group, to continue building its Apollo-style runescape money CST-100 capsule. Boeing hopes its CST-100 will also visit private space stations like the one to be launched by Bigelow Aerospace.
These commercial contract awards came on the heels of last week’s congressional approval of a spending plan for America’s once-proud space agency. NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, a veteran spaceflier himself, hailed the legislative action.

"We appreciate the work of Congress to pass a 2011 spending bill," Bolden said in a statement. "NASA now has appropriated funds to implement the 2010 Authorization Act, which gives us a clear path forward to continue America’s leadership in human spaceflight, exploration runescape items and scientific discovery. Among other things, this bill lifts funding restrictions that limited our flexibility to carry out our shared vision for the future.

"With this funding, we will continue to aggressively develop a new heavy-lift rocket, multipurpose crew vehicle and commercial capability to transport our astronauts and supplies on American-made and launched spacecraft. We are committed to living within our means in these tough fiscal times — and we are committed to carrying out our ambitious new plans for exploration and discovery."

When they heard Bolden's words, the remnants of America's space family sang hallelujah. Our role in space could be getting back on track. We just might not lose our first-place standing.

But then came the commercial contracts for the neophytes. NASA's decision leaves out some of America's best-known aerospace companies and discards billions of taxpayer dollars already spent on workable hardware. The space agency will have to buy tickets on Russian spaceships to reach the International Space Station for years to come. NASA has already signed up for more than $1 billion worth.

Reflecting on the situation last year, retired astronaut and senator John Glenn asked President Barack Obama, "What do we do if the Russians fail? Leave our astronauts up there?"

Hope not.
This graphic shows how they combine into the new ATK-Astrium Liberty rocket. It's not as if hiring the inexperienced was NASA's only choice. For the same money spent on these commercial contracts, the space agency could have had a commercial U.S.-European rocket. It would have been provided by ATK Space Launch Systems, the builders of the space shuttles’ solid booster rockets; and by Astrium, the company that builds the liquid-fueled core stage of the European Ariane 5.

For the past 25 years, the space shuttle’s booster rockets have flown 214 times successfully. That’s 107 shuttle missions in a row, with two rockets for each. Meanwhile, France’s Ariane rocket has flown 41 times without a failure, and the hardware was originally designed to be human-rated — that is, cleared for flying astronauts. The Liberty rocket would have used NASA’s existing facilities at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center, trimming back the costs of operation as well as the time needed for Americans to be riding their own spacecraft again.

Over the past five decades, Americans have never been without their own crew spacecraft either flight-ready or just short of being ready to go. The American-European rocket had the potential of flying within four years if a spacecraft was ready. Although the neophytes say they'll be ready in a similar time frame, the veterans think it'll take as long as 10 years.

Those who gave all they had to NASA for decades — roughly 20,000, counting direct and indirect employment — are looking at massive layoffs. Before summer passes, the last members of the space shuttle launch team and Mission Control flight controllers will fade into history, with little to show for their devotion.

The NASA of Shepard, Glenn, Neil Armstrong and so many giants of history is gone, but these giants still have their pride.

When asked what they did with their life, each can proudly say, “It was called Apollo. We went to the moon.”

Just one old curmudgeon’s opinion.

Microsoft, i4i Argue Patent Rights at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Monday heard oral arguments from both Microsoft and i4i, locked in a dispute about the validity of patents involved in a $290 million case dating back to 2007.

Lawyers for both sides argued the case for 30 minutes in front of the court, which will render a decision by the end of June. Lawyers for both i4i and Microsoft runescape gold were allowed to argue their positions in front of the court, with the exception of Chief Justice John Roberts, who had previously reported owning Microsoft stock.

The Supreme Court agreed to hear the i4i case in November. That came several months after the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) confirmed the validity of i4i's patent.

The case dates back to 2007, when i4i sued Microsoft for infringing on its XML editor patent. In August 2009, a District Court in Texas handed down a $290 million judgment against the software rs gold giant and ordered Microsoft to remove Word from the market within 60 days.

Microsoft appealed, but lost in December 2009. At that point, Microsoft said it would remove the infringing XML editor from all copies of Word by January 11, 2010, meaning Word could remain on store shelves. But Micrsoft still filed a second appeal on January 8, and in March 2010, the court issued a preliminary ruling that said the original judgment should stand. By April, it rejected Microsoft's request for an en banc review, but the High Court later agreed to hear the case.

Patents at issue

The court arguments centered upon the status of the patent itself. Malcolm L. Stewart, representing the United States and the U.S. Patent Office, noted that the traditional definition runescape money of a patent was a quid pro quo between the patent holder and the government: in exchange for the patent holder divulging a trade secret, the government granted him or her a period of exclusivity.

The problem, Microsoft has argued, is what happens when a poorly worded patent is granted. In such a case, Microsoft argued, any company or individual that wishes to overturn it has an uphill battle.

In 1952, the U.S. Congress recodified U.S. patent law, implementing section 282, which baldly states, "A patent shall be presumed valid." But in 1980, Congress also provided for the re-examination of a patent, which would determine whether a patent was in fact issued incorrectly or without merit.

Thomas G. Hungar, the counsel for Microsoft, claimed that re-examination of the patents was not a sufficient remedy for someone arguing that an existing patent runescape items should be nullified, because the re-examination process "is limited in scope," he said, according to a transcript of the testimony. "It can only consider certain types of prior art evidence and issues."

The problem, Hungar said, is that the prior art that may be examined in a court case may not have been examined by the U.S. Patent Office.

"Your Honor, I don't think it addresses the problem because the fundamental problem is imposing this heightened standard on the jury that has no moorings in the statute and no moorings runescape accounts in common sense, particularly in a case like this one where the relevant evidence was not only not considered by the Patent Office but withheld from the Patent Office," Hungar said.

But Seth P. Waxman, arguing for i4i, claimed that Congress had acted several times to amend the law to address the problem of low-quality patents, and that the Senate and the Supreme court itself had held that there was a "presumption of validity" after a patent had been approved. Overturning a patent via re-examination by the Patent Office.

"A single holding of invalidity by a single lay jury vitiates for all time the patent and all of the reliance interest by the inventor and the investors and the licensees who have relied upon that ex ante," Waxman said, noting the disastrous implications that can have on licensees and other dependent claims.

Stewart, however, arguing for the U.S., compared the weight applied to a patent to one of the more fundamental rights afforded to a U.S. citizen.

"The requirement of heightened proof was part and parcel of the presumption itself in the same way that I think most lawyers in this country would say that the requirement of proof beyond a reasonable doubt is part and parcel of the presumption of innocence in criminal cases," Stewart argued. "If a new criminal statute were enacted saying that the defendant is presumed innocent, but the presumption can be overcome by a preponderance of the evidence, that might be a presumption of innocence, but it wouldn't be the presumption of innocence as it's historically been understood in our country."

Inflation in China Poses Big Threat to Global Trade

As the United States and Europe struggle to get their economies rolling again, China is having the opposite problem: figuring out how to keep its revved-up growth engine from generating runaway inflation.

The latest sign that things were moving too fast came on Sunday, when China’s central bank ordered the biggest banks to set aside runescape gold more cash reserves.

The move essentially reduces the amount of money available for loans, and is an attempt to cool down the economy. It follows the government announcement on Friday that China’s economy was growing at an annual rate of 9.7 percent, by far the strongest performance by any of the world’s biggest economies.

Because China is now the world’s second largest economy, after the United States, and because the country has been a leading source of global growth during the last two years, money problems here can reverberate from Wal-Mart to Wall Street and the world beyond.

High inflation endangers China’s status as the low-cost workshop for the world. And if the government’s efforts to fight inflation cause the economy to stumble, that will cloud the outlook for international businesses — whether multinationals like General Electric or copper miners in Chile — that have been counting on China for growth.

Inside China, inflation also poses a threat to social stability, a particular worry for Beijing, especially since authoritarian governments in North Africa and the Middle East have become the focus of popular uprisings.

“China’s inflation is a big concern, and actual numbers are worse than officially reported,” said Carmen M. Reinhart, an economist at the Peterson Institute for International Economics in Washington.

She says Beijing is engaged in an economic tug of war, trying to encourage sustainable rs gold growth while struggling to control inflation.

Food prices are soaring, and the government said on Friday that the consumer price index in March had risen 5.4 percent, its sharpest increase in nearly three years.

Hoping to tame inflation, in the last six months Beijing has tightened restrictions on bank lending and raised interest rates on loans (to discourage borrowing) and deposits (to encourage savings). The decision on Sunday to raise the capital reserve ratio for banks, to 20.5 percent of their cash, was the fourth such increase this year.

The government has also increased agricultural subsidies to curb food prices, and tried to forbid some Chinese companies from raising consumer prices. These efforts stand in contrast to those in the United States, where inflation is low (the underlying annual inflation rate was 1.2 percent last month) and where the debate centers on how much to stimulate the economy given the size of the deficit. Inflation is also running low in Europe, where some countries are imposing harsh austerity measures to pare their budget gaps.

But analysts say the results of this economic management have been mixed. Growth has begun to moderate from its torrid pace of about 10 percent annual growth but inflation has become worse.

For example, housing prices continue to climb even though Beijing has long promised to curb the property market and to spend billions of dollars over the next few years on affordable housing.

The average apartment in central Shanghai now costs more than $500,000. Even in second-tier cities like Chengdu, in central China, the price of a typical home costs about 25 times the average annual income of residents.

Analysts say too much of the country’s growth continues to be tied to inflationary spending on real estate development and government investment in roads, railways and other multibillion-dollar runescape money infrastructure projects.

In the first quarter of 2011, fixed asset investment — a broad measure of building activity — jumped 25 percent from the period a year earlier, and real estate investment soared 37 percent, the government said on Friday.

Some of the inflationary factors, like global commodity and food prices, may be beyond Beijing’s ability to influence. Gasoline prices have also jumped sharply, in line with global oil prices. As the world’s largest car market, China’s demand for fuel is soaring, and gasoline prices are close to $4.50 a gallon, up from $3.82 a gallon in late 2009.

Rising food prices, meanwhile, are showing up in various ways — including higher prices at fast-food chains, like Master Kong, which in January raised the price of its popular instant noodles by about 10 percent.

China’s current supercharged boom began in early 2009, during the global financial crisis, when Beijing moved aggressively to increase growth with a $4 trillion stimulus package and record lending by state-run banks.

The loose monetary policy, and big investments in local government projects, did revive economic growth. But even at the time there were already concerns about soaring property prices, undisciplined bank lending and the huge debts being amassed by local governments.

The fear among some experts is that the bubble will eventually burst, leading to a wave of nonperforming loans at the big state-owned Chinese banks, which have been the main financiers of the nation’s phenomenal growth dating to the economic reforms in the 1980s.

Some economists have begun to argue that high inflation may be around for some time. Here again, the tug of war is evident.

To encourage the growth of a consumer market that will help meet the Chinese people’s demand to share the nation’s wealth, Beijing and many municipal governments have required employers to raise wages.

The government has raised minimum wages in the hope of reducing the big income gap between the rich and the poor, and the urban and rural. But higher wages drive up the costs of production, leading to higher prices. Some experts say rising wages may be an unavoidable inflationary force for years to come.

“China is moving into a new era, a new norm,” said Dong Tao, an economist at Credit Suisse in Hong Kong. “In the previous decade, inflation was about 1.8 percent a year; in the next decade, it may be closer to 5 percent.”

The implications of such a shift are huge, not just for domestic consumers but perhaps even more so for exports. As wages and production costs rise, coastal factories are demanding higher prices for the goods they ship overseas. That means Americans, Europeans and other buyers will have to pay more for those goods or seek lower-cost suppliers runescape items elsewhere. In some cases, retailers are bidding for goods at prices the exporters consider too low.

“I hear that many Chinese exporters are rejecting orders from Wal-Mart and other Western retailers,” Mr. Tao said. “I’ve been covering the Chinese economy for a long time, and I’ve never heard that before.”

Many analysts say the government is going to have to do even more to slow the economy, through measures like placing additional restrictions on lending and continuing to raise interest rates, the textbook methods of fighting inflation by tightening the nation’s money supply.

But the mixed results so far do not inspire widespread confidence. In fact, some experts say that despite the Communist Party’s efforts to manage the economy by committee, the absence of a top autonomous runescape accounts central banker — Beijing has no equivalent of the United States Federal Reserve chairman, Ben S. Bernanke — means no one actually has a hand on the growth throttle.

“The roots of inflation were laid down after the financial crisis, with the stimulus policy,” said Zhang Weiying, a professor of economics at Peking University.

After a big stimulus, stamping out inflation is not easy, Professor Zhang said. “It may take a long time.”

Citizens like Wang Jianren, 56, a retiree in Shanghai, a bustling city of 20 million, say that over the years China has benefited from its rapid economic growth. But like so many here, he complains that inflation is beginning to erode those gains.

“Prices have gone up a lot,” Mr. Wang said at an indoor vegetable market on Friday. “Unstable prices make people nervous and make society unstable. In this sense, our generation even has some nostalgia for Mao’s era.”

Top Ten Time Management Tips

Below are the time management suggestions I most often give to my speaking and training audiences. Whenever I deliver these, I implore people to Adopt, Adapt, Reject any or all of them. What I mean is:

Adopt.Givethe suggestion a try; see if it works for you.

Adapt. If the suggestion isn't working for you, but you like the idea, try to Adapt it to your way of working.

Reject. If you can't Adopt or Adapt a suggestion, toss it out and go to the next one. We're just looking for one or two ideas to help you regain command runescape accounts of your day.

With that said, here are my Top 10 Time Management Tips:

1. Create a Designated Work Space. Identify a defined physical space - like your entire desktop -that you clear of everything (I mean EVERYTHING) except the one thing you need to work on right now. Your DWS should look like a newborn conference room table. It will help you eliminate the effects of peripheral vision which can be very distracting when piles of other work and your computer runescape items monitor are within that scope of vision.

2. Use Robust Subject Lines. Be very descriptive in the Subject line of each e-mail. This will assist the reader determine how important your e-mail is in relation to the others in his/her inbox, as well as assist their ability to find and file it quickly in the future.

3. Face Away From Traffic. Facing the door - what I call the Command Central office setup - has the disadvantage of allowing your 120 degrees of peripheral vision affect your focus. You look up every time someone walks by and, worst case scenario, you catch their eye and in they come! Though not Feng Shui compliant, facing away from the door eliminates this self-inflicted distraction from your day.

4. Conduct Regular Core Dumps. One of the leading causes of "noise" in our lives is the self-talk going on inside our heads. "Gotta remember that." "Oh yeah, can't forget that." These mental reminders cause our focus to ping pong around all day long. When you hear these ruminations going on, take a moment to jot the information runescape money down on a physical or digital sticky note. Quell the internal symphony by capturing all the to-dos in a recorded form so you can focus on the exigencies of the day.

5. Turn off new message alerts. I can't say it enough - turn new message alerts OFF! These self-inflicted interruptions are riddling your ability to focus and be productive. Just check your e-mail, texts and voice mails periodically throughout the day (even every 15 minutes if necessary) to remain responsive to those who need your attention.

6. Pick Today's One Thing. A great way to feel productive and in charge of your workload is to pick ONE thing each day that you WILL get done. At the very least, this one thing will move off our plate. (Note, foryou over-achievers out there, I said ONE.)

7. Reduce Meeting Length by 25%. Work fills the time allotted. Thus, if we schedule meetings for 60 minutes, they'll take 60 minutes. However, if we schedule them for 45 minutes, they'll take 45 minutes. Shazam! We just found 15 minutes in the day to get other stuff rs gold done.

8. TakeShortBreaks Throughout the Day. Contrary to popular believe, this "life thing" ain't a marathon. The brain just don't work that way. It's more like a series of sprints. Cater to your brain's preference for sprinting by taking short breaks throughout the day. Even a five minute walk around the building or a quick read of the daily newspaper allows your brain to take a much-needed breather before jumping in to the next big effort.

9. Schedule Only Four Hours of Work Each Day. We are all optimists. We tend to think everything takes less time than it actually does. As a result, we over-commit our time and end up begging for extensions from those to whom we owe work. Begging for extensions is a waste of time - what I call activity with no corresponding runescape gold productivity. One solution to this conundrum is to only schedule yourself for four hours of work each day. This means that when you are giving others an idea of when you can get something done, base it on a four-hour workday instead of an eight-hour workday. That leaves four hours each day to deal with the inevitable emergencies that come up.

10. Do One Thing at a Time.Multi-tasking is an inefficient way to work. There is a growing body of science that supports this conclusion, but just trying having a conversation with someone who is checking their e-mail at the same time to confirm this proposition. Doing one thing at a time means you can be laser focused on that one thing. Laser focus deliversall your brain's resources on this one task resulting in increased efficiency and effectiveness.

There they are. Ten of my most recommended time management tips. Take them. Leave them. Pass them along. Most importantly, though, consider each of them to determine where there's a nugget of value in there for you. After all, it IS all about you!

Search Engine Results Pages: The Difference Between Sponsored and Organic Results

One speedy look at Google (or any of the other major search engines), will demonstrate that the typical search engine runescape gold results page (SERP), has several clear elements. With Google, these components include:

* Pay-per-click (PPC) or 'sponsored' results. Usually, these are on the far right of the page, going down the page. For many search rs gold terms, there will also be sponsored results at the top of the page, usually just below the search box.

* Products, Local and video Below these sponsored (PPC) results in the main body of the SERP, will be the more specialist results. These will depend a lot on the particular phrase you searched for. Examples of these specialised results, includes local business results, up to date news results, social networking results (such as Twitter), and videos from YouTube.

* Organic results Below these results, is where all the natural search results can be found. In all three of the major search engines (Google, Bing and Yahoo), the organic results occupy more of the page. Remarkably, the least popular the keywords or search terms, the fewer sponsored links will be shown, and the greater the area occupied runescape money by the organic results.

Popular keywords on the other hand, are handled differently. SERPs for these are often combined with many of PPC and organic results. Standing out through all the clutter for high traffic keywords is very challenging. It is far easier targeting keywords that are less popular, but have a lot lower competition.

On the other end of the scale, are niche (and often long-tail) keywords. For a lot of of these keywords, there are hardly any PPC ads at all, and so all of the results found on the SERP are organic. Doing search engine optimization on your site and your pages for this type of keywords therefore, could result in the greatest conversion runescape items rates, as the competition is lower. Many of the leading corporations and brands online will usually optimize their websites for the broadest and most popular search terms possible, irrespective of the conversion rates they are getting out of it. With their almost unlimited budgets, they can often afford such a shotgun approach to marketing.

That said, the vast majority of internet users have more trust in natural search results. Industry bodies and analysts have done lots of research that all come to the same conclusion. Over 60% of internet users do click on organic search results most of the time. Power users, and more experienced internet users actually click on the organic results runescape accounts even more often. Pretty much the only industry where this is not the case, is the insurance sector, where most of their traffic comes from PPC marketing campaigns.

Obviously, using only online advertising, will mean you are not getting the best results of your website promotion efforts. Along with driving traffic, you can build more branding for your site and company name through search engine optimization efforts to improve your organic search results and ranking. Any aspiring site owner, especially one whose target demographic is the internet savvy generation, would therefore do well to put a considerable amount of effort into SEO for their site.

SEO is not brain surgery. Anyone can do it. You can decide how far down the rabbit hole you are prepared to go with it, but you should not ignore it.

Giggs Leads Manchester United Into Champions League Semifinals

Ryan Giggs, who has won more titles than anyone else in English soccer, defied his 37 years to set up all three Manchester United runescape gold goals in its Champions League quarterfinal win against Chelsea.

Giggs provided the passes for Javier Hernandez and Ji-Sung Park to score last night as United won 2-1 at its Old Trafford stadium. Giggs also set up Wayne Rooney for the only goal in the first game of the series in London.

“I’ve said it so many times about the man -- he’s incredible, a unique person and player,” United manager Alex Ferguson told reporters. “It’s a great contribution. His experience and composure were vital.”

United, which tops the Premier League and plays Manchester City on April 16 in an F.A. Cup semifinal, will meet Schalke or defending European champion Inter Milan for a place in the Champions League rs gold final at London’s Wembley Stadium on May 28. Schalke holds a 5-2 lead going into tonight’s match in Germany.

Giggs has scored 158 goals in a club-record 869 appearances in the two decades he has played for the Red Devils. He’s won 11 league titles, two European Cups and four F.A. Cups, and his legend is such among United fans that one of the biggest banners runescape money displayed at Old Trafford reads: “Giggs, tearing you apart since 1991.”

Ferguson credits the player’s longevity to sacrifice and intelligence.

“To play at 37 years of age there must be tremendous sacrifice,” the coach said.

Opening Goal
Giggs last night broke through the Chelsea defense in the 43rd minute and played a low cross for Hernandez to tap in at the far post.

After Didier Drogba scored in the 77th minute runescape items for Chelsea to make it 1-1 on the night, Giggs played in Park with United’s next attack and the South Korean made it 3-1 in the series with a low strike into the net.

While United has been European champion three times, Chelsea and its billionaire owner Roman Abramovich -- who has plowed more than 750 million pounds ($1.22 billion) into the club -- have yet to win the continent’s top club prize.

The closest Chelsea has come was a defeat on penalty kicks to United in the 2008 final in Abramovich’s home town of Moscow.

The 44-year-old Abramovich was in the crowd yesterday to watch the latest failure, which included the sight of record 50 million-pound runescape accounts signing Fernando Torres being hauled off at halftime by coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spaniard, signed from Liverpool in January, has gone more than 700 minutes without scoring for his new team.

“I thought having signed Torres for the money they paid they had to play him,” Ferguson said of Ancelotti’s decision to leave Drogba out.

Drogba Scores
Torres’s replacement, Drogba, got Chelsea’s only goal of the tie when he blasted past goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar 10 minutes after Ramires had been ejected for a second yellow card.

Ancelotti denied Torres’s price tag had forced his inclusion, although the Italian acknowledged he may have chosen the wrong player to partner Nicolas Anelka in attack.

“Maybe I did,” Ancelotti said. “I thought a lot of time to take this decision to start with Fernando for this type of game and Didier played very well in the second half.”

The U.K. press has speculated that Ancelotti’s position may be in doubt. He’s the sixth coach under Abramovich, who bought Chelsea for 59.3 million pounds in July 2003. Last season, his first since arriving from AC Milan, Ancelotti guided the team to the F.A. Cup and Premier League titles.

“It’s not my decision to stay or not stay,” Ancelotti said. “I’m not concerned. I have to work. I have to try and do my best.”

How to Attract Women at Work

Workplace romances are common. In fact, more than half of all relationships are started this way. But sometimes you can take an innocent attraction runescape power leveling and turn it into an uncomfortable situation. And at work you can’t avoid her after that happens.

So how do you attract a woman at work without being the creepy guy who she tries to avoid? And how do you avoid making a mistake that will have her talking about you in a bad way to your co-workers? Follow these simple rules on attracting rs power leveling women at work and you will ensure that you will not have to hide from that woman you once liked.

1. Avoid asking every woman out you are attracted to.

Gossip and rumors have a way of flying around a workplace buy runescape accounts in a short period of time. So if you are constantly asking women out at work then you may be labeled as a guy who is a player, or even desperate. While this may not be true, you will not be able to defend yourself because of the rumor. Women will have already made their mind about you before you even talk.

2. Test the waters first.

Make sure you have some sort of interaction with her before you confess your attraction to her. This will allow you to get to know her and things that can make or break your chances.

Is she single?
Does she date a lot?
Is she even interested in men?
Is she crazy?
Does she drive men away?
Does she need a guy to be with her every minute?
Has she ruined other guys reputations?
Find out the answer to these questions buy runescape gold and you will avoid getting rejected, smothered at work, or stalked, and having to face that reality day after day.

3. Do not announce your interest to the workplace.

Do not talk about the woman you are attracted to with everyone you work with, because this will give them something to gossip about. Neither you, nor her, need the attention that gossip brings at work, and you may lose her interest if she hears some twisted version of something you said.

For instance you may mention to a co-worker that you are aware she is also interested in you. When that co-worker buy runescape money tells her that you said this they may make it sound as if you are being cocky and acting like a god’s gift to women. This may turn her off from you completely and you will not get a chance to explain what you really meant.

4. Treat her good once you get the date.

If you treat her badly then you will be soon known as the jerk at work. She will tell any potential love interests at work about you and your date and it may ruin your chances with a woman you actually like.

So treat her with respect and kindness on the date. This way if it doesn’t work out she will probably harbor no resentment towards you, and your workplace image will remain intact.

Jamie Dimon Whines, Threatens, and Cajoles

Jamie Dimon, the CEO of Too Big To Fail JPMorgan Chase, has been whining about the fact that sensible people loathe him and his ilk. You’d think a guy who made $20.8 million in 2010 plus $17 more million for the previous year might be able to withstand runescape power leveling a bit of loathing. But you would be disappointed. Lately he’s started bitching about the terrible possibility that someone might interfere with his Galtian right to make all the money in the world, and cajoling us with what the media seem to think is charm and/or brilliance. The issues include the amount of reserves Too Big To Fail banks like his have to keep, regulation of derivatives, and debit card fees.

If you set the reserves level too high, he says, you “…greatly diminish growth”. If you let European banks use different calculations, “you’re pretty much putting the nail in our coffin for big American banks.”

Regulators are proposing to require collateral for derivatives.

But the idea of adding collateral would in Dimon’s words “damage America.” And instead of the derivatives business rs power leveling going away it would just move away. He cited as an example the possibility that Caterpillar would simply move its derivatives to Singapore.

On regulating debit card fees:

Mr. Dimon … called it “basic price fixing at its worst”.

“It basically penalizes us for having debit cards,” he said. “I think it was very unfairly done in the middle of the night buy runescape accounts with no facts and analysis whatsoever. This is not the way legislation should be done.”

That is standard practice for the Financial Elites: they promise to wreak vengeance on the US economy if they don’t get their own way, which means the unfettered ability to suck money out of the middle class either directly in the form of monopolistic debit card fees or indirectly through taxpayer guarantees that they won’t fail. It’s fine with me if Dimon wants to move his derivatives business to Singapore buy runescape gold as long as a) the costs of the next crash will be borne by the citizens of that tiny country and not me, and b) it gets him out of the country and under the thumb of an authoritarian government.

To hear him whine, bitch, cajole and threaten, you would expect that his bank was moving heaven and earth to support economic buy runescape money growth in the US; and you’d be disappointed. Let’s turn to the recent 10-K from JPM and see what the loan portfolio has been doing since we looked last, when we saw that the loan portfolio was shrinking.

If you just glanced at the linked page in the 10-K, you might think that the loan portfolio had increased from $633.5 billion at 12/31/09 to $692.9 billion 12/31/10. But, if you look at the next entries and the footnotes, you learn that the figure for 2009 does not include $84.6 billion held by off-balance sheet entities for that year. In 2010, JPM moved them to its balance sheet because their accountants told them to. To make the figures consistent, you have to add that $84.6 billion to the 2009 figure, to get a total of $718.1 billion as reported in the line marked “total loans”. In fact, the loan portfolio dropped $25.2 billion in 2010, about 3.5%.

It would have dropped further, but JPM bought $3.5 billion in commercial loans in the third quarter of 2010. (p.57). JPM has been busy repurchasing bad mortgage loans too, which potentially increases the loan portfolio, but no figure is given in the 10-K.

JPM isn’t contributing to economic growth by lending money. On the other hand, derivatives are doing really well. JPM doesn’t report the amount of business it does in derivatives, preferring to discuss “derivative receivables” and “derivative payables” as if these were measures of exposure in one of those never gonna happen financial meltdowns. The OCC reports [.pdf] that JPM’s exposure to derivatives is 265% of its risk-based capital, second only to Goldman Sachs. Table 4. Can you say “Bailout”? Total trading revenue was $1.2 billion in the fourth quarter, twice its nearest competitor. Table 7. Trading revenues were 6% of total revenues in the fourth quarter. Graph 6B.

Debit card fees? Thanks to the corporatist Senator Jon Tester of Montana (no more money from me for him), banks will be able to charge monopolistic debit card fees. It’s for your own good.

So, to summarize, JPM is making piles of money on derivatives, its loan portfolio is down, and it is working Congress to maintain monopoly prices on debit card fees. What a bunch of leeches. Fortunately for them, they have millions to buy loyalty from politicians. And I intend to keep on bashing banksters, no matter how much Dimon whines.

Missile Fired From Gaza Strip Hits School Bus In Israel, Prompts Retaliation

An anti-tank missile fired from the Gaza Strip struck a school bus in southern Israel Thursday, wounding two people, one of them critically, and prompting fierce Israeli runescape power leveling retaliation that killed five Palestinians.

Israel unleashed airstrikes and tank fire against Hamas targets across the border in the heaviest assault on the coastal territory since a broad military offensive two years ago. Besides the dead, more than 30 Palestinians were wounded, said Palestinian health official Adham Abu Salmiya.

He said one of the dead was a 50-year-old civilian who was sitting outside his home when he was struck by tank fire. Three others were militants killed near the southern Gaza town of Rafah. The fifth man was a Hamas policeman.

Near midnight, the Hamas-run government reported that Palestinian militants had agreed to a cease-fire in an effort to halt the spiraling violence. After this announcement, Israeli rs power leveling aircraft targeted smuggling tunnels in southern Gaza, an abandoned house east of Gaza City and a group of armed men in that area, Hamas security officials said. No casualties were reported.

The military had no immediate comment on the reported air attacks.

The sudden outbreak of violence illustrated the fragile situation along the Israel-Gaza border, where small bouts of fighting can quickly escalate into heavy-scale warfare.

After two years of relative calm, tensions have been rising between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza over the past few weeks. For Israel, Thursday's attack was the most serious of this period.

But it also laid the groundwork for a major strategic breakthrough. The Israeli military activated a new cutting-edge missile-defense buy runescape accounts system for the first time, saying that the Iron Dome scored a direct hit on an incoming Palestinian rocket.

The escalation has also spilled beyond Israel's borders.

In the past month, Israel has intercepted a cargo ship that it said was carrying arms bound for Gaza, jailed an alleged Hamas rocket mastermind believed to have been captured in Ukraine and been accused of carrying out a mysterious airstrike that killed two people in Sudan buy runescape gold. Israel has not commented on this week's airstrike, but officials have said they believe Sudan is a transit point for arms bound for Gaza.

Israel's defense minister, Ehud Barak, ordered the army to respond quickly to the attack on the school bus and said he held the Hamas militant group, which rules Gaza, responsible for the violence.

"We will respond until it will become clear that the Hamas fully understand that we cannot accept and we will not accept such events," he said at a military base in southern Israel.

Hamas issued a rare claim of responsibility for the bus attack, saying it was in response to the killing of three of its leaders earlier in the week. Usually, smaller militant factions claim responsibility.

Palestinian officials said Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was making calls to leaders in Egypt, Turkey and Qatar buy runescape gold appealing for their intervention.

Israeli defense officials said the incident marked a significant moment that would warrant a severe response. But there were no immediate indications that the violence would devolve into all-out war.

Israeli medical services said the bus was nearly empty after dropping off school children and was carrying only the driver and a lone passenger at the time of the attack. A 16-year-old boy with a serious head wound was evacuated from the scene and undergoing surgery at a hospital. The driver was moderately wounded.

TV footage showed a yellow bus with its windows blown out and its rear charred.

Israeli President Shimon Peres condemned the attack from New York, where he was holding meetings at the United Nations.

"This is another example of Gaza becoming a terror state," he said in a statement. "Hundreds of thousands of mothers and children in southern Israel cannot sleep quietly at night as a result of the rocket fire from Gaza."

The American and British governments condemned the attack.

Israel usually responds with tough reprisals to Palestinian attacks. It launched an airstrike on a Hamas training facility in northern Gaza.

Later Thursday, Israeli aircraft and tanks attacked Hamas facilities in northern and central Gaza Strip. A tank shell also struck a fuel depot in northern Gaza, sending a plume of smoke above the area.

"Israel will not frighten us and will not terrorize us," said Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan. "We call on the Arab masses and the Arab revolution to stand by the Palestinian people in Gaza and to urge their regimes and their governments to stop this escalation, which aims to create a new pool of blood in Gaza Strip and Israel should be held responsible for the consequences of this."

The missile attack came hours after Israel carried out airstrikes against tunnels it says are used by militants to smuggle weapons under the Egyptian border and carry out attacks.

Hamas and other Gaza militants have fired thousands of projectiles toward southern Israel in previous years. Israel launched a massive offensive in late 2008 to counter the near-daily barrage.

Israel recently deployed its first system to defend its tanks from anti-tank missiles. As a result, Gaza militants may be turning the weapons on new targets, since the attack on the bus appears to be the first time such a missile has been fired at a civilian Israeli target.

The military said that after the missile attack, about 45 rockets and mortar shells were fired from Gaza toward Israel, including one that struck a home, causing damage but no injuries.

In a separate incident, Israel said it had arrested five Hamas militants in east Jerusalem and charged them in a pipe bomb attack that wounded a sanitation worker last month.

In the West Bank, Israeli troops rounded up dozens of Palestinian women overnight in a massive sweep as part of a search for the killer of five Israelis in a nearby settlement last month.

Residents in Awarta said that between 100 and 200 women were taken into custody and that Israeli troops took their fingerprints and DNA samples from them. By midafternoon, all the women were believed to have been released.

Israel has been carrying out arrests in Awarta since a young Israeli couple and three of their children were stabbed to death as they slept in their home in the neighboring Jewish settlement of Itamar.

The Astrology of A Royal Wedding: Prince William and Kate Middleton

Now we have a time for the start of the wedding ceremony 29th April 2011, at 11.oo – this might be a good moment to see what extra information the wedding horoscope of Prince William and Kate Middleton
runescape power leveling has to tell us about their relationship. The ascendant is in the royal sign Leo – and appropriately in the horoscope of a future King – Leo's ruler the Sun is in the 10th house, the house of state occasions. The other royal planet – Jupiter is conjunct Mars – and on the midheaven which Mars rules. Of the two planets Mars in its own sign Aries – is clearly the stronger. It is tempting to see the Sun as signifying Prince Charles – who has Leo rising in his birth chart – and his natal Moon in Taurus. Two heirs apparent – but with Mars applying conjunct Jupiter – it's the younger man's day.

Staying with Jupiter – it conjuncts the midheaven in Prince William's birth chart as well - and he is born under a Mars/Saturn conjunction – which the wedding horoscope emphasises, Saturn being conjunct with the natal configuration. This makes Saturn rs power leveling an important player. Not only is the wedding taking place during one of life's most crucial phases, i.e. the first Saturn return signifying adulthood and new responsibilities, but it is also the ruler of the wedding horoscope's seventh house, which is the house that naturally rules relationships.

However, what is truly striking about the wedding horoscope in relation to Prince William's horoscope in particular – is that it takes place on the day that Prince William has his progressed new Moon in the 28th degree of Cancer – which brackets his progressed descendant (his marriage partner). We should remember that Prince William was born on the day of a solar eclipse at 29 degrees 47 Gemini – so his life seems to be developing closely in relationship to the Sun/Moon cycle.

Though we do not have a birth time for Kate Middleton - clearly wedding horoscope Saturn is retrograding back towards her natal Mars in Libra. Saturn is also ruler of her Capricorn buy runescape accounts Sun. So, while her ambitions are clearly being fulfilled (she is after all born under a Saturn/Pluto conjunction square the Sun) she might find carrying out all the official duties that will be required of her, physically exhausting.

But back to the wedding chart… Even without the bride arriving in a royal coach – this will be a fairytale wedding. Neptune has just entered Pisces – so Hollywood, Disneyland… eat your heart buy runescape money out.. because this wedding has it all: history, pomp, ceremony, and location, location, location. The world wide interest will be intense and it will generate enough glamour, gossip and fluff to fill the newspapers for weeks, months, years………

The watery Pisces Moon is unaspected – void of course if you like. Which considering the couple have been together for ten years already - might simply suggest that when the camera's stop clicking – on the domestic front nothing much will change. A VOC moon, simply means nothing happens – that is – until it changes sign. Which it will do in this horoscope – and very quickly indeed. From September 2011 the progressed Moon will be contacting Uranus – a sudden event or upset? By August 2012 – the Moon is with Venus – ruler of wedding horoscope buy runescape gold 4th house – this could signify birth or a change of address. Which ever way you look at it, with the progressed Moon moving so quickly into Aries, and with so many planets in the wedding horoscope in that sign, the first few years of their married life are going to be very fast moving and eventful.

So – will this wedding last? If we look at the wedding horoscope of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer (29 July 1981, St. Paul's Cathedral ,London, 11.00), - then the ascendant was Libra (it had the appearance of a love match) – with Venus in Virgo in the 11th house. Venus is however in a double sign (Prince Charles – loved someone else) and Venus is in detriment - which quite literally meant that this wedding would be detrimental, certainly to Princess Diana. Furthermore,Virgo is a mutable sign – which suggests movement, or instability. In the wedding horoscope of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the ascendant is in a fixed sign, Leo, and it's ruler is the Sun in a fixed, conservative sign, Taurus. This combination looks and feels very much more stable to me – if even a little boringly conventional.

What does the 2011 Says? Great Reasons to Change

In the previous note, Predictions talk about relationships, work and money; now for the attitudes and nature. Let's face it, the 2011 will give us very specific tasks to mature and take charge runescape accounts of our actions.

Since the second quarter, Uranus and Jupiter from Aries enthusiastic again and asked us anything new, to make changes especially in our character and the way in which we set in the world. It Invite us to trust Jupiter and Uranus to connect with the group, both also will test our rage.

Neptune and Chiron, in turn will activate our conscience, our compassionate side and a more spiritual view of life, although the first cause some confusion about flowing emotionand rs gold asked us, we are also asked to be more intuitive to move.

Nature, troubled

The waves may be the tone between April and sold out by the passage of Neptune through Pisces.

A few months ago we talked about the short visit to the intrepid Aries Uranus. But this giant is now entering yet and strongly activating the fire element in nature. Fires, volcanic eruptions, more global warming are not enough today, "a lot of winds and thunderstorms will be dropped in the Landscape 2011. But you will not be reading this, take a precautionary approach and observing the fire, also admire
runescape gold his power, feel its warmth and connect with your inner fire with passion for life.

When Neptune is going to happen to splash into Pisces, between April and August, the world's oceans and waters will be shaken; attention must be paid to the Chilean coast. There maybe more floods, tsunamis, storm surges and a revelation of water, along with some disputes it. It will be a great time to honor, care for it, drink it and feel its purity.

On Friday, a letter went home to parents identifying the risk factors and warnings signs of suicide.

“to let them know that we care and here’s some things to look for in a particular stressful situation like this. Let us know very quickly if there is something going on,” says Sirois.
